OpeN hearts, open minds, open doors
Lester's Chapel is a small, traditional, country church with a big, welcoming, open heart. Come worship with us and feel right at home.
History
One hundred and twenty-nine years ago, a small group of people with imagination and faith began what is now known as Lester's Chapel United Methodist Church. We do not know the exact date the church was organized or where they met. Perhaps a brush arbor or in the homes of members. Old records of other churches show many started during "camp meetings."
William Still Lester donated the land on which was a built a 30' x 40' structure. This original building stands as the central section of the sanctuary.
Filed November 3, 1888, the deed reads "For and in consideration of the love and affection that I have for the cause of Christ on earth and my desire to build up and promote it, I do hereby grant and convey unto the trustees of Lester's Chapel for a church to be erected upon the land herein conveyed."
Throughout the years, remodeling and improvements have been made to enhance the beauty of the church. In August, 1989 a steeple was added in memory and in honor of active, dedicated and faithful members.
Moving from the past to the present, the members of Lester's Chapel remain interested in the youth, community, and service to others at all levels. We are a small church with a big heart.
